Cacturne finds its niche in the PU metagame as a strong offensive Spikes setter. High base offensive stats allow Cacturne to wallbreak, and Water Absorb and Cacturne's ability to use Spikes are the main features that set it apart from Shiftry, which would mostly outclass it otherwise.Water Absorb notably allows Cacturne to come in on passive Water-type Pokemon such as Gastrodon and ... Cacturne is a humanoid, bipedal Pokémon that resembles a green scarecrow made of cacti. Its face has two eye holes through which yellow eyes can be seen, and six smaller holes representing a grinning mouth. It has numerous spikes along the length of its arms, legs, and around its neck. A pattern of green rhombi extends down the front of its body. Moves marked with an asterisk (*) must be chain bred onto Cacturne in Generation III; Moves marked with a double dagger (‡) can only be bred from a Pokémon who learned the move in an earlier generation. Moves marked with a superscript game abbreviation can only be bred onto Cacturne in that game. Cacturne can also use Encore to further aggravate opponents. Encore can simplify Cacturne's initial setup by forcing a switch, and it also punishes foes such as Mismagius and Moltres that may try to avoid Sucker Punch by setting up a Substitute in Cacturne's face. 2020.10.20 19:12 UTOPILO Any fellow synth heads in this sub want to talk gear and what they are working on? (discussion)
Hey Just curious who else in this sub is actively creating music and would like to talk about your latest work/ what instruments you are interested in right now. BOC like or not is cool seeing as any BOC fan will probably have a bit of influence from their music either way.
I have been spending a lot more time recently jumping between the electribe sampler es2 and the drum rack in Ableton. In the drum rack I tend to like to pick 8 kicks and 8 snares to jump between to keep the beats fresh, then I chop loops to make glitchy break beats. Been moving towards more fast paced idm as of lately.
Has anyone here had the chance to play with the new polyend tracker? It looks lit but I would love to hear from someone who has had hands on experience.

2020.10.20 19:12 HikingsSquirrel Zippo butane insert misbehaving...
Hi, I've recently had issues with a Single Torch butane insert. The flame drops and drops till it lights up and instantly goes out.
I've bled it and refilled it, lights up perfectly...but then as soon as I shove it into its case...the flame drops...and when with movement it drops more and more...
I've had 2 that have done this now after a week or so of use, is it a faulty batch? It doesnt seem normal at all...but then when you rotate the needle min to max a few times it starts behaving...for a short while...
Sadly the UK website is down and has been for quite some time so I can't contact zippo for help.

2020.10.20 19:12 swolebird For those who sell weeklies, when do you open positions?
I usually do most of my research/planning Fri-Sun, then open my positions Monday morning several hours after the markets open. But by then the premiums have mostly changed, and a lot of the underlying prices have shifted, so I have to update my plays a bit on the fly to keep the probabilities I originally planned on (depending on whether underlyings mooned/drilled/dipped/peaked/crested/etc.)
Does anyone open Friday afternoon (assuming you manually close)? Or over the weekend and just let things play out how they will Monday morning?

Making Mac and cheese for a family event, what would I have to do to be able to make most of it a day or two ahead, freeze it (maybe?), and cook it when it’s needed? Would that work or just make it taste bad? Thanks for the insight

2020.10.20 19:12 Revlar The Candy Earth should've worked like "The Multiverse Labyrinth" from Gurren Lagann
I usually stick to responding to people, but here goes some pondering. I don't lay out my thoughts in a very structured way, so a dialogue (or argument) is a better format for me in general. Still, I hope I can get these concepts across.
*Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann* is an anime. This post is going to contain some serious spoilers for the last few episodes of that. If you haven't watched it already, this post isn't directed at you, so go away.
Here's what happens: In Team Dai-Gurren's desperate fight against the Anti-Spiral, they achieve a massive, surprising victory by escaping from the Death Spiral Machine, finally rising to the level of power they need to rival the more powerful of the Anti-Spiral's forces. This state of affairs is short-lived, however, because the Anti-Spiral almost immediately shows up to take them down a peg, by trapping them in what they call **The Multiverse Labyrinth** (Some of these things might have different translations in different fansubs or dubs of the show).
**The Multiverse Labyrinth** essentially traps the characters into a recursive spiral of *"What Ifs"*. What if "Simon had never found Lagann?", "What if beastmen never took over the surface?", "What if Yoko had a TV show as a famous secret agent bounty hunter or whatever that one scene was about?" and, most relevant to my point "What if Viral, a beastman, could live a normal life and have a family of his own?". All of these scenes or glimpses of the characters trapped in fantasies serve to show us something about them. We don't know that Viral's deepest desire is until we see it, and we immediately realize why it's impossible (There are no beastman children, as they're all sterile and artificially created). It's a tragic reveal and the perfect end to the sequence, because it shows the potential of The Multiverse Labyrinth as a tool of wish-fulfillment, even though we know the characters should not stay in it.
(This isn't a revolutionary bit of writing. She who must not be named even put it into the first book of her famous Kid-At-Magic-School genre novel series, with the **Mirror of Erised** that shows you your deepest wish. In her novel, it's kind of boring, because we learn things we already know: Harry wants his parents back, Ron wants to stand out as better than his brothers. This still works to set up when Harry later gets an offer from the villain that plays into his fantasy of getting them back, so it's not terrible, just not the same.)
Now that the explanation is done, I think you can see where I'm coming from and where I'm heading: The Candy Epilogues easily could've done the same thing, but didn't. Nothing in them really strikes me as particularly rosy or perfect, or as revealing of the characters' internal lives. In fact most of it is just depressing and trashy. It tarnishes the characters, not only because they behave oddly, but also because we're supposed to think this is what they do when given the opportunity to do anything.
Some aspects of it do call back to The Multiverse Labyrinth, in my opinion. I think the Candy Epilogue does a very good job of giving nods and winks to the reader that its reality is fake, that there isn't actually a Human, Troll and Carapacian Kingdoms full of citizens, that it's all play-acted by the deluded main characters and that it'll fall apart any second... At least until John and Roxy end up having that scene near the end where she either reveals that that's wrong, or gaslights the shit out of John.
There is one character that IS living his fantasy in Candy, though, and it's the one that resembles Viral the most: **Karkat Vantas**, leader of a badass Revolutionary Army.
Now if only HS^2 got the memo that it's supposed to be a weird dream world, and not a political theater that plays out like a soap opera...
