like your team landing on promenade and your teammates going loot some house or a bank, when they are in doors and windows closes and we hear jigsaw voice saying "hello soldiers, you have 30 seconds to find escape, life or die, make your choice" and game start, there could be some easy minigames like shoot all jigsaw spirals to win or some pretty easy puzzle, if you fail walls start slowly closing and crush you with teammate or some saws cut your whole body and you die, you are landing in gulag

2020.10.20 19:08 Shady_TiTs No Employment & a Future of Opportunity

Hi fellow UKPFers,
I (M, 24) have been informed that the permanent role that was being held for me is no longer an option. I would like to see this as a blessing in disguise the best I can : )
Thank you for the advice you've already shared and made available to the community so far gang. Luckily thanks to the all mighty chart of flows I have an emergency fund which will keep me afloat in the time being!
A bit on me - I have a 1st Class STEM degree in Biology, 12 months of job experience and have interests in technology, programming, science and Finance.
If you were in my shoes, which industries or career paths do you think are great opportunities to pursue, (given our uncertain Brexit future) and why?
I have heard the Finance industry is taking a big hit in London because of Brexit and that tech related careers might contain a bright and foot loose future for many given WFH is taking off.
The same as anyone enthusiastic about their personal finances and financial independence, high paying roles would be great goals to aim for and be recommended.
However, I personally would not want to sell my soul and miss out on massive parts of life like raising a family or enjoying time with friends and family because of a 120 hour work week.
I'd like to hear the honest opinions of the wise and logical UKPFers since we might also be heading into a recession and this seems a good time to invest in myself and develop some new life changing skills.
Extra info - I was thinking about the CFA but it isn't spoken of in the UK that often. Do any of you recommend to just give the lv 1 a wack and start applying for roles whilst self studying?
I'm also happy to tackle a Masters head on. I've had a look into a few and would be happy to be recommended a conversion masters for any subject.
A few I've seen or have been recommended already include: software/computer science, finance/banking, Fintech, biotechnology/Biodevices and bioinformatics. So thanks if you have any personal information on the career paths these lead to, it is also highly appreciated.

2020.10.20 19:08 giveAShot Does anyone else hope the LGC gets more into the lobbying front?

I have been a fan of the LGC for a while, and a member on and off for years. I just recently read an article from guns.com that came up searching for news articles featuring them that mentioned that they do some lobbying/education for politicians.
I would love it if they got more into that, and focused on lobbying/educating left-leaning politicians on behalf of left-leaning constituents. If they had an arm like NRA-ILA, or a Go-Fund Me for the purpose, I would definitely donate towards it. Am I the only one? I feel like our voice is lost because all of the lobbying is done by those on the right.

2020.10.20 19:08 renzbenz Auditory Synesthesia?

I’m not sure whether this counts as synesthesia, but whenever I hear most music, I’ll mentally be transported to a place visually that seemingly encapsulates how I feel about the song emotionally (the beach, a sunset with a very pink sky, and nighttime driving under street lights are very broad/common visualizations I’ll have). It occurs naturally, but it’s also not very vivid; it’s more like I’m recalling a memory rather than experiencing a vivid dream.
I’m curious to see what you guys think :)

2020.10.20 19:08 quasarmind [Linear algebra / optics] Hello, I have a system of 4 equations with 4 unknowns. I am not finding solutions other than the zero vector.

I am trying to find coefficients to continuous EM-waves across boundaries using corresponding boundary conditions. Using gaussian elimination it becomes clear that no row manipulations will change the fifth column. So I get {A,B,C,D} = {0,0,0,0}.
Our professor set up a matrix equation : M_{4x4} *[A,B,C,D] = [0,0,0,0]
And said, we can only get solutions when the determinant of M_{4x4} = 0. Understandable.
By solving the determinant equation he produced an equation from which we could get crucial values relating to the system. But not the coefficients A, B, C, D, because they are not part of the determinant. How can I find the coefficients that are non zero?

2020.10.20 19:08 AlmightyGiraffe74 Pinocchio is the best Disney film.

This might not be the most unpopular opinion, but it's not popular, so I think it kind of counts. Everything about this film is perfect. The beautiful animation, the brilliant voice acting, the simple but charming story... Ah, the good old days before Disney was a greedy multi-billion box office vampire that didn't give a shit about quality. When it was just a slightly racist guy making good films.
But quite seriously, Pinocchio is the best film Disney itself ever made and possibly one of the best animated films of all time. It isn't pretentious like Fantasia, it isn't sickly sweet like Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella, it doesn't suck like Frozen, and it hasn't aged horribly like Song of the South. It's a great film with great writing, a good message and a big heart. People tend to hate on it because 'the donkey scene is too scary for kids', but honestly, that's what makes this a good film. I miss when family films were allowed to have dark moments and traumatise any child watching without an adult, instead of being hyperactive pre-school mush with a few double entendres thrown in for the adults being forced to watch (my cousins made me sit through these, so I'm happy they've grown up). I don't really have much else to say about this film, other than it's a masterpiece that too many people ignore in favour of The Lion King.

2020.10.20 19:08 SideStreetSoldier What knife is Spy's butterfly knife based on?

Obviously, it is a balisong, or butterfly knife, however, there are different brands and models of balisongs, such as, for example, the Kershaw Lucha, which to me sort of resembles the Spy's knide, however, the handle isn't solid, rather it has holes. It also, if i am not mistaken, isn't as old as TF2. It looks more modern. Some insight would be nice.
