2021.01.15 18:00 Seeking_Knowledge21 Need help with constant derealization/dissociation.
I'll give some background. It started around the time I got my first job, I used to get it when I would drive home (I had to take the highway, about a 30 minute drive). At first it happened like once or twice a week, and only during the drive. When I got home, in about 10 mins it would wear off. To me it made me feel "high" because everything around me felt like a literal dream, it didn't cause me to hallucinate but does affect my perception. I used to smoke weed, so I often compare it to that... Everything visually will look surreal, dreamlike to me.
After a bit, I started to get the episodes more often on my drive home from work, then eventually started to get it on the way up - and then while I was at work. Besides this, I never got it (during this time) anywhere else. I eventually had to quit work, and now quit driving because it causes me to feel to weird/uncomfortable.
It slowly (over about the period of a year) got to the point where it happens on a daily basis, all day. It's like I'm experiencing it low-grade all day but anxiety/socialising/being away from home + being outside makes it much worse.
I don't know what caused it, I heard dissociation (in general) can be caused from trauma, which would make sense. However it might have been caused when I got assaulted (I was hit on the head with a snare drum) by someone. Or maybe by the weed and cigarette use (I quit both). I'm not sure.
I also know that overstimulation (visually) can cause it. Which is why I mentioned being outside, it's like to much stimuli for me and causes me to dissociate. So I'm wondering what I can do about this. It worries me, I tried talking to my family about it and they really do not understand how much it impacts me - or what it is...

2021.01.15 18:00 blurryto007 [Request] broke up with my long term boyfriend of 4 years, could do with postcard cheer on valentines day [India]
My boyfriend and I broke up and for the first time in 4 years, I'll be alone on Valentine's. V-Day celebrations were sort of a huge deal when we were together, and it'd take a hell lot of courage for me to not sit at home and cry on that ay. I love postcards. I could really really do with some positivity.
You can send me anything. Handmade postcard with a 4-year-old's scribbling on it. torn sheet from your notebook. Just about anything. I really need a distraction so I don't cry my heart out.
Also, I'd reply to each and every one. (please let me know if you have something strictly against getting a card in exchange)! PM me so I can send you my address.
Thank you kind strangers in advance <3

2021.01.15 18:00 TheBunny_2020 How to answer back
I know a few people (people on social media, etc.) who believe in conspiracy theories and most of the time I just ignore them because it’s hard to argue with these people. However, I have a random few close friends and close relatives who believe in them and it breaks my heart to see them spout and send me this nonsense. I usually just ignore what they send me but the “Theories” have gotten so bothersome to me that I’ve started arguing back. This has proven frustrating and futile because they take something that is true or hard to disprove and then take it basically from A-Z or they say “but it COULD be true” (like yes, I suppose it could be true that unicorns exist but it’s unlikely!) For example, I know someone who is ADAMANT that the Capitol rioters were “antifa people” who infiltrated the crowd. I suppose it COULD be true (nothing is impossible) but it’s unlikely and the most obvious answer is the rioters are trump extremists who wanted to force in a candidate that didn’t win.
Please help!!!! And please don’t say “ignore them” I really try to and I do ignore for the most part but they are bringing this to my doorstep and these are people I do care a lot about.

2021.01.15 18:00 nervous_poopoo What are the differences between writing a personal statement and behaviour examples at the application stage?
Currently writing a 750 word personal statement which requires me to show how I meet the essential requirements of the person spec. Is it much different to writing behaviour examples? I.e. still do STAR examples to show how I meet the person spec? Anything else a personal statement should include that behaviours normally wouldn't? This job application is sifted only on the personal statement and there's no behaviours to write.
