2021.03.05 13:56 geebwiz Graduating Senior - Is this right for me?

Hey guys, A little background. 22 year old male college student. I will be graduating from San Diego State University this semester with a degree in Applied Mathematics. Though I have no real experience in the professional world (minus a restaurant job I held in a high-end establishment throughout HS/college), I am an extremely hard working person and have a strong work ethic. I tend to think I can learn virtually anything and am confident in my ability to stand out/rise to the top, as I did in my restaurant (starting at busboy age 15 and quickly being promoted to food expeditor at age 17). For those of you who aren’t familiar this was kind of a big deal and a big leadership role. I dominated the restaurant and was head expo, having the busiest shifts (Fri/Sat nights, etc).
Anyways, with that said, I have been struggling to find my niche. I’m applied math, so I feel as though I can weasel my way into any field. I have always been fearful of the 9-5 and don’t want to get trapped into some job I despise. Also note, I am an entrepreneur at heart. I strive for greatness and ultimately would love to have my own business and be my own boss. Obviously this is risky and I’m not ready to pursuit this. I’d prefer to have some experience, more knowledge, and money in the bank first.
I am confident I will get this job as a financial analyst/wealth manager. I have passed the first few rounds of interview process and have my final scheduled for Wednesday for a larger company based out of Boston.
The company claims it will take roughly 3 years to fully be established. Year 1 is hard and a lot of training and working with mentor. Year 2 starts to become easier and by year 3 I will have completed all my training and have my CFP license. From there it sounds like smooth sailing, as most of my clients will be established and I will be starting to get a lot of referrals and it will naturally become easier with time.
The company itself has a base pay of 30k for year 1. They say average person will make 75k though it is based on my performance. A lot of reviews say that if you put in the time and follow their models, you’ll succeed. From what I understand it comes down to laziness. Those who are motivated have the resources to succeed and will. Others will fail.
Mind you this is not a sink/float environment. They were very clear that their mentors and leaders will be working extremely close w me for the first few years. If I stay, by year 3 I’ll have established a recurring compensation. It is 10% compound interest of previous years pay.
So ultimately by say year 7, I can have established a recurring bonus of potentially 6 figures. Meaning I can take a whole year off and be guaranteed 6 figures. This is huge for me, as I said I want to eventually start my own business and this can give me time to do so.
The exit strategy is strong too. Ultimately I can sell my clients back to the company for a large price tag at any point. So year 10 say, depending on my network, I can sell out for over 7 figures.
Now, my question to you guys is if this seems a little sketchy or if it’s worth it? I know it’s a little risky as those who don’t do well will feel it financially. But then again I’m 22, with nothing lined up as of right now. I figure I have nothing to lose. Guaranteed 30k first year. I mean that’s much better than 0. And if the average person can get that to 75, I’m confident I can too, if not 100. I am determined to put in the work necessary. I don’t know much about financial planning however. Is this a problem? They say they have many people who had no clue what the job entailed, but all that is taught and can be learned. What can’t is the work ethic, which I already have.
The only thing that scares me is that I feel as though there is a catch. They claim the catch is that it’s kind of a 3 year process until you are established. Also it’s mostly focused on me working with my clients, establishing my own schedule, meetings, etc. I will get paid a compensation rate based on my revenue for the company. Everything sounds great I mean flexibility, freedom, ability to grow, independence, no cap on salary, and exit plan. I’m wondering what you guys think and if any of you work somewhere w a similar design. I appreciate any advice. Thank you!

2021.03.05 13:56 RAE2_Ww Tips to help grow a fresh beginner Twitch Channel?!?!

I’m relatively new to the Twitch scene, only creating my account a few days ago. Sitting on 3 followers, I did my own research of how to grow and improve my channel as much as I possibly can. Many influencers suggested Reddit as a way to gain more knowledge from others with a lot more experience than me. I’ve been looking at streaming for awhile and wanted to ask the community for some tips to help me boost my followers, live viewers etc.
My overall goal is to create a 100% friendly and positive community around and within my Twitch Channel. Were I can play with viewers/followers, have a chat, share achievements and successes etc, and typically having a good time to remember. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, to create a positive community within my industry to put smiles on people’s faces.
I have a lot of my plans set out when it comes to huge projects I want to do, what I want to stream. But how do I make that stand out? How do I gain the interest from other people and get my channel recognised? What can I do with my content ideas to make it more intriguing?
I value up and coming streamers a lot more than huge influencers based on me being in the same boat. I want to help others grow as much as improve myself and my channel. Reasoning behind wanting a supportive, positive community where we can all help each other grow and reach our full potential in the streaming industry.
I would like to use Reddit as a way to help others as well as gain info myself. And give people and streamers the recognition they deserve!
However, what are the main tips for streaming? What advice could you provide me to help me?

2021.03.05 13:56 Imaginary-Tap-3361 What factors should I consider when getting a health insurance cover as someone self-employed/freelancing?

I need to buy a cover and I do not know what to start. When I was previously employed, I had NHIF, but I was fired mid last year and actually haven't kept up NHIF payments. I have a few questions:

  1. Do I need to keep up with the NHIF premiums? Can a policy 'expire' and then I apply for another one or will I always owe NHIF money on this one?
  2. Is non-civil servant NHIF sufficient for a young person in their 20s without dependents or a spouse. I did try to seek mental health services when I had that cover, but all doctors I spoke to only took civil servant NHIF cards and that really pissed me off.
  3. If I do decide to go with a private insurance cover, what do I consider in terms of reliability, premiums, coverage etc.?Do you have any specific recommendations?
Also if you have any resources to learn more about health insurance esp. in the Kenyan context, I would appreciate it.
Stupid 8-4-4 and parts of an insect! But nothing on important shit.
